women are the least thing people would talk about. whenever cases happened involving women, people rarely talk about it. and when it comes to violence, their reaction was as if it is the mistake of a women. how low are our standard in society? women been killed, raped, abused by men brutally. women are really in danger. what about men? there are men been killed horriblly. but, it was by men itself. why men would do such things to women? are we their enemy? or perhaps maybe they are our number one enemy!!

i think it boils down to power. that violence against women are systematic ways to control and subjugate women. there are countless analysis of this available on the web, as well as other spaces, that i wont go into there further. but the point you raised about silence is interesting. i'm not sure why people do not talk about violence against women. or if they do, it is in a particular way.

maybe because women are seen as subjects that belong to the private sphere of society, and the private sphere is often less important than the public one. even if this is not true, the imagination that this is the case is very strong.

men being our enemies.. well. the idea of two sides do not help i think since it can simplify matters. but it is important to check the power structures that allow this to happen, and question each and every one of our own complicity in the issue. what do you think?
